Strength training is a treasure in life

Yesterday, for the first time in a very long time, I went to a lecture.

I listened to an inspiring talk by a man who had cancer and had to have a major operation to remove his collarbone and ribs.

He said that he had been doing muscle training and that it had made a huge difference to his recovery after the operation. He said that he had lost 15 kilos during his six months in hospital, but thanks to the muscle training he had started during his stay, two years after his discharge from hospital, his weight had returned to normal and his muscle mass had almost recovered to pre-operative levels.

He said that he definitely has what is called muscle memory.

In his speech

Being able to train your muscles is a treasure in life

I was very impressed by his words.

Recent research suggests that strength training may also help with cancer.
